Little Black Cart is an anarchist publishing and distribution project that strives to reject ideology in favor of critical thinking. The literature they produce and share is a unique and diverse suite of critical, cutting-edge anarchist thought that unflinchingly recognizes past failures and makes myriad attempts to understand what steps can be taken next. CrimethInc.

Also known as the CrimethInc. Ex-Workers Collective, CrimethInc. is a decentralized group of autonomous cells that, among many other things, produce various forms of media including books, articles, videos, music, posters, stickers, a journal, and a podcast. If you are new to anarchist thought, CrimethInc.’s accessible, relevant, and impassioned publications may be a good place to start. From their website:

AK Press

AK Press is likely the largest and most widely known anarchist publisher/distributer out there. They publish mostly historical studies and contemporary social movement lit., and the anarchist materials they publish tend to be more traditionally oriented. From their website:

Black Rose Books

Established in 1970, Black Rose Books has been publishing alternative and critical literature for four and a half decades. Though some of their publications are less radical than others, there are definitely some gems in their lengthy bibliography that are worth checking out.

Black Powder Press

A collective based out of Santa Cruz, Black Powder Press prints and distributes a variety of anarchist literature and wares from theoretical to practical to apparel. You will be hard-pressed to find something in their selections that isn’t interesting or useful, definitely making these folks worth checking out.

Autonomedia

Autonomedia is one of the premier publishers of anarchist and similar radical material in North America. Until 2001 they were affiliated with Semiotext(e), an influential publishing group that are largely responsible for injecting French radical thought into the North American mileu. Autonomedia now largely focuses on art theory and anarchist, autonomist marxist, feminist, and queer texts. They are also well known for their badass Autonomedia Calendar of Jubilee Saints, where they treat each and every day of the year as a holiday in celebration of a different rad person from history.
